Alpaca Fiber

Its wool is one of the thinnest around the world. The woolen fiber of alpaca is elastic, stronger, straighter, and silkier than the sheep ones. Although the meat of alpaca is eatable, the animal is used especially for its wool, of which pledges are made of dressing high quality. The sheepskin of the alpaca is constituted by thin and thick fibers. The thin fiber is in the part of the loin and the flanks of the animal; whereas the thick fibers concentrate mainly in the pectoral region, extremities and face.
The fiber of alpaca is soft to the tact and it has a high power of hygroscopicity, which allows it to absorb the environmental moisture between 10 % to 15 %, not affecting its aspect. Another important characteristic of the fiber of alpaca is its aptitude to support the corporal temperature, independently of what happens in the external environment; although it is necessary to point out that on having been prepared in textiles, the fiber tends to separate, needing its combination from it with other natural fibers as the wool or synthetic fibers that have the opposite effect. As for colors it refers, it will be possible to find more than 16 colors in the fiber of alpaca, changing from the target, the tonalities creams, brown tones, colors silver, gray and the black. Those of black and brown color or dark coffee are the most valued.
